The Prohibition Swingtet is enjoying a busy March.
On Thursday the band set the tone and rhythm for a corporate function themed as a Chicago “speakeasy”, that showcased the Candy Lane Dancers and dancers from the Jitterbug Dance Studio.
Next week the eight piece line-up, featuring John McGill on vocals and James Langabeer on tenor sax, is providing the music for a big swing dance in Auckland, and is then booked for the annual Rakino Island Jazz and Art Party on Easter Saturday, and a fancy private function in Taupo the following night.
This is all in addition to commitments for most of the musicians with the Prohibition Big Band, Prohibition Jazz Experience and their other smaller jazz bands.
